Looking for a quick side trip? Consider the Chicago History Museum. Located on the north side in beautiful Lincoln Park, the museum is a great place to visit. It is a short bus or taxi ride from the conference. Try the 151 Northbound Sheridan bus to motor along Chicago’s Magnificent Mile and Gold Coast neighborhoods along the way. Exit at the LaSalle/Stockton stop.

The museum features rotating exhibits on the history of Chicago. They also offer very reasonably priced tours by foot, bus, ‘L train, and boat. A very fun tour is the History Pub Crawl, where you can see some of the spots where Chicago’s Roaring 20’s prohibition-era antics took place. Be sure to check the tour schedule when the conference approaches to see what is being offered while you are in town.

Insider Tip: If you visit the museum, grab a bite at the Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder Co. restaurant. Located about 2 blocks north of the museum at 2121 N. Clark, it has the most unusual pizza you will ever see. It is served upside down and flipped at your table. They are open for lunch on the weekends and dinner every day. It is small, though, so be prepared to wait if you go at a busy time.
