Here’s another welcome to Chicago, your host city for the 2008 MLA annual meeting. Click here to see the PowerPoint slides and text offered at last May’s MLA business meeting. We recommend viewing the slides via the Notes page so you can read the text, or just use the slide show feature to see the pretty pictures.

Though this presentation was less than ideal (the technology failed to advance the slides in a timely fashion), it did the job in presenting the images of a Chicago most have come to know and love. The failing technology for our presentation provided a great contrast with the excellent presentation Mark Funk offered in his presidential address. Mark’s presentation was a flawless example of how technology and media can work together to deliver a powerful message. Congratulations to Mark for providing a model of what librarians can do with technology.

We also provide you a link to the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau’s video, another segment of our presentation which also gave us some grief. Sit back and play the video on your computer and enjoy the sights and sounds of “sweet home, Chicago”!
