An Action Plan for Learning About Web2.0 Tools in Health Sciences Libraries:

  1. View MLA’s Web 2.0 Webcast on March 5
  2. Take MLA’s Web 2.0 Class This Spring
  3. Attend the Web 2 Plenary Session at MLA ’08 on May 21

On March 5, at 1 PM Central Time, MLA is offering an exciting webcast about the use of new generation “Web 2.0” tools (such as blogs, wikis, and podcasting software) in health sciences libraries.

Starting on March 10, MLA’s Social Networking Software Task Force, in partnership with the 2008 National Program Planning Committee (NPC) Geek Squad, will offer a free online CE course, “Web 2.0 101: Introduction to Second Generation Web Tools,” for MLA members wanting to explore and discover both established and emerging web 2.0 technologies. As a founding member of the 2008 NPC Geek Squad, I encourage all readers to sign up for this excellent course.

The course requires completing 1-2 hours of work per week for eight weeks; MLA members who complete it will earn eight free CE credits. Registration information and further details are available to MLA members here.

Completing the trifecta, the closing plenary session at MLA ’08–on May 21, from 9-Noon—is entitled “Web 2.0 Tools for Librarians: Description, Demonstration, Discussion, and Debate.” Social Networking Task Force chair Bart Ragon is one of several excellent participants, who will all lead a rousing discussion about how to effectively use Web 2.0 tools in libraries.

See you in Chicago!
