Bearded Pigs: Get Your Concert Shirt Now

Time is running out to joing the Thicket Society to support the Bearded Pigs, the World’s First (Only?) Open Access International Librarian Rock Band.  Putting on a Rock show isn’t free, so for those of you who want to help the Pigs cover their expenses for doing the show please consider joining the Thicket Society.  It is $40 for a single membership, $75 for a couple AND you will get a cool limited edition Bearded Pigs MLA’12 concert t-shirt (seen below) and pin.  May 1st, 2012 is the deadline.

Just because you have one team jersey, doesn’t mean you can’t get another one to wear at MLA.  Aside from the times when I am presenting, I will be getting into the team spirit of the conference and wearing several different jerseys throughout the meeting.  So it will be nice to add another to my rotation.

The Pigs will be playing Sunday May 20th and all are invited to join them for a night of dancing and drinking (cash bar) in “Grand C” of the Seattle Sheraton Hotel.  They’ll start up around 8:00 and play until 11:00.  Their encore performance will be at the Armadillo Ball, a scholarship fundraiser for the South Central Chapter of the Medical Library Association (SCC/MLA). Because it is a fundraiser, the ball isn’t free, your ticket into the ball to see the Pigs a second time is an armadillo pin is $10.  Armadillos can be bought at the door or from an SCC/MLA member.  Wear both your Pig shirt and armadillo to show your support.

And just to keep everyone confused (I know I am) – the shirts will actually have ORANGE sleeves and a GREEN design, which for reasons I can’t explain, we can’t get a picture of. But here’s a plug for CustomInk – they must hire librarians because their people are wonderfully helpful and their service is above expectations.

And for those joining the Thicket Society, just a reminder about where the money goes — we pay for equipment rental, charges from the hotel and miscellaneous expenses associated with the gig. Whatever is left gets donated to the MLA Scholarship Fund.

OK, so I am a few hours late for the deadline, but it has to still be May 1 somewhere on the globe, right?
