I had the opportunity to visit the MLA ’13 exhibits yesterday afternoon before one of my sessions. It’s a little overwhelming–so many free pens! I even found my favorite candy, Goetze’s caramel creams!
But I was really looking for something that would help me in my work. I recently taught a class on “Finding Funding for Your Research.” The Foundation Center is a significant boon to anyone who has ever tried to navigate the world of philanthropy. Searching for funding opportunities or even knowing where to start looking can be confusing and overwhelming.
The Foundation Center’s Vision statement enforces a commitment to helping the public understand the “contributions of nonprofit activity to increasing opportunity and transforming lives.”
I was glad to see their booth (# 614) at One Health MLA ’13. I was able to chat with them a little bit about how difficult it can be to look for funding opportunities. The kind people at the booth informed me that they have an upcoming webinar on May 15 at 3 p.m. It’s free, and it’s especially tailored to health and medical fundraising opportunities.
Visit The Foundation Center exhibit booth in 614 to chat with them and find out more, or e-mail Nora Lambert at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Now I can get back to the business of the free goodies. Hey, has anyone seen a mouse pad? I could really use one of those!
