The South Central Chapter of MLA (SCC/MLA) encompasses the five state region of New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana which is also our NN/LM Region. This means that our partner libraries are truly partners since we work together on everything, a tradition that is 40 years strong.
SCC/MLA sponsors an annual meeting each year in October; for 2014 it’s a joint meeting the (Quint) with 4 other groups in Denver. In 2015, it will be in Little Rock, Arkansas. Our chapter is very active in creating content for these meetings from papers to tech expos to CEs to lightning rounds.
In addition, SCC/MLA offers scholarships to library students to attend our conference and to librarians to take continuing education courses. Two juried awards are given annually for Librarian of the Year and the Distinguished Service Award. We offer to the ability to connect, network and mentor locally.
Please come and take a gander at our Chapter Poster during Session 1, Sunday May 18th from 3:30-4:30. And don’t hesitate to ask about what’s up with the armadillo.
